Finishes:

Built into the GOLD CROWN™ introduction is the concurrent launch of the METALIZED™ drum finishes.  The forward looking Bronze METALIZED™ finish (on the inside and outside of the shell) appears similar to a vintage hand-hammered finish.  The Nickel-Silver METALIZED™ finish appears as a textured silver finish, and the Brass METALIZED™ appears as a warm contoured brass finish.  All three finishes are unique, very durable, and have never been seen so traditional drum sets before.

In addition to the METALIZED™ finishes, a fourth option (available only on the drumsets) is the new Black Lacquer finish.  Another REMO® first, this is a true lacquer finish, not a plastic wrap!

Shell construction:

GOLD CROWN™ drums are the first to be made using the newly introduced ADVANCED ACOUSTICON™.  Denser with a hardness and pitch falling between maple and birch, the shells and their crisp 45 degree routed bearing edges have a projection and timbre that amounts to great range and projection.  Tom-tom shells will be ¼” thick while the snares and bass will be 5/16”.

The results, according to an excited Jeff Hamilton, have a “roundness of sound that’s improved from the great ADVANCED ACOUSTICON™.  The set has a more centered sound.”

Hardware:

Holding the drums in place is the redesigned 6300 Series Hardware.  Launched in late 2001, the new hardware takes in specific upgrades for the GOLD CROWN™ series including refined (smaller and more rounded” lugs, die-cast counterhoops, a special ratchet on the snare stand, a new hi hat clutch and a brand new tom-tom suspension system.  The Remo Suspension System (RSS) attaches between the lug and the drum itself, meaning heads can be replaced without detaching the drum from the mount.  And with the ball socket tom arm, toms can be inverted to effortlessly and quickly change even resonant heads.

Heads:

GOLD CROWN™ drums are equipped with the same drumheads that top artists and manufacturers worldwide rely on.  The 4 piece “Be Bop” set come standard with the diplomat® - weight FIBERSKYN®3 on all drums (the snare-side receives a hazy AMBASSADOR™).  The other two configurations, the “Fusion” and the “Euro”, come with the Coated AMBASSADOR™ heads on top and the Clear AMBASSADOR™ underneath.  Bass drums have a Clear POWERSTROKE™ 3 batter side and a Suede™ POWERSTROKE™ 3 on the front.  Snares are equipped with the industry standard Coated AMBASSADOR™ on top, Hazy AMBASSADOR™ snare-side.

SPECIAL EDITION SNARE DRUMS:

These new Snare Drums offer all of the same characteristics of the

drumsets, with a few minor differences.  One of which is the lug

(more info and photos to come), the other is the exclusion of the

Black Lacquer finish.
